Doorbell Camera

Hello - I am having trouble with my new doorbell camera.  It worked great for the first week, but now the doorbell camera will not show any video through the app.  It shows that it's disconnected.  Despite the video saying "disconnected," however, the doorbell camera also shows as "online" in the settings, it is still connected to WiFi, and I also still receive motion notifications from the camera.  The doorbell also still rings.  Is there a reason why the video no longer works?

Not quite sure what's going on. Sounds like the doorbell itself is working fine, but there's some sort of disconnect happening from your account on our website. I've gone ahead and asked a Tech Manager to give you call to investigate.

Can you assist with decreasing the range of the doorbell camera setting?  Picking up and recording cars, truck, folks walking their dogs ... need only about 4' recorded ... annoying alerts in the meantime.

The very next firmware update for the Video Doorbell Pro will resolve this exact issue. Keep an eye out - it should be rolling out to you soon!

@Johnny - not questioning the Captain, but have learned to parse sentences on this site closer than I have in other cases.  Does you statement "should be rolling out to you soon" translate to (1) SS is working on the code to fix this issue or (2) SS is currently deploying the code with a rolling release schedule?

In either case, how will we know we have it installed or at least being installed?

I purchased this doorbell camera not knowing that you need to have an existing dooebell with an exist wired 8-24 volt AC service. So this doorbell is NOT wireless like other simplisafe devices. This creates a problem with homes like mine that does not have an existing doorbell. Does anyone know of a battery powered workaround?

I too would like a fully, 100% battery-powered doorbell with Camera.

There is a rechargeable battery in the unit.  You can charge it with a cell phone charger (android not apple and not the new "C" cable).  I'm not sure that there is a completely wireless solution.  If it was just a doorbell a battery-operated solution might be viable but the video function would drain batteries pretty quickly.

Love my doorbell/cam but...set on low...tested, re-tested, etc. and "mine will trigger / record a flea fartin' in the front yard at 25 feet all day long."  USPS, Fedex, UPS, Milk truck, utility truck, trash truck, recycle truck, dog walkers, flag, students off the bus, the bus...I record em' all...all day...every day. :)

I have the same problem with the camera recording aborted every 2-4 min. I do have a flag in my porch, but I thought it was supposed to sense people not flags. And advice to stop the annoying recordings would be appreciated.

Yes you can if you either have the 24.99 Total Command interactive package or pay a video subscription fee.

So having the same problems as a previous poster from one year ago does not bolster my confidence in shelling out $170 for this unit! I love the system and was looking at getting one but...... I'll  be thinking hard(er) about it.
SS - is there an operating manual for the camera/doorbell so I may look at it before purchase?
Also why can one not search this forum?

@danfhiggins, you can get the manual in the customer help center for download. I have one and works fine. As for search in the forums, you may be waiting for a while for a reply from SS, just use a google search, works great.

Update: I stand corrected. You can't download the owners manual, but you can use an interactive version of it, but you have to search for it.

SS, how about just a pdf library you can download all of them??

Thanks for the information. I found this for the 'manual'. A very simplistic install sheet. Not really an owners manual in my opinion.
