How to delete "Camera Motion Detected" video files that are not needed anymore?

We have too many video files that are are no longer needed.  How do I delete those files?

Right now it's just one at a time. You're probably aware that we already have a suggestion thread for Bulk Delete, though.

You can't.  There is no way to delete them, and SS has so far ignored all requests for the option.

They do, however, automatically disappear after 30 days.  Look in your timeline and any older videos are gone.

On the flip side if you have your camera privacy lens cap settings how you want them this can be a feature in that no one could compel you to delete them. Preserving any evidence not only for law enforcement but also for yourself as sometimes law enforcement and prosecutors have omitted/lost/overlooked/hidden/and yes even outright destroyed exculpatory evidence. So this is protection against anyone destroying potential evidence.

That is an excellent point.  If they could be deleted, a bad actor (robber, abusive spouse, etc.) could compel their deletion.

Wish recordings could be deleted. Some have posted that they are deleted after 30 days. But, I still have recordings from October 31...when I setup the system. ????

@mchllbrwn67 the key word here is "after" 30 days. Eventually they will be deleted for that time period.

Hi @mchllbrwn67,

That certainly is odd. The recordings are automatically deleted after ~30 days so those should no longer be available for viewing through the timeline on your SimpliSafe account. While the recordings will not be available at that point, you will still be able to see the list of events that caused the recordings in your timeline indefinitely.

If you are still able to view recordings from October 31st on your timeline then please contact our Support Team at 1-800-548-9508 from 8 AM to Midnight ET, 7 days a week so that we can look further into this issue.
