Public API?

Hello,
Does anyone know if Simplisafe plans on releasing a public API so software designers can implement control of our Simplisafe alarm systems into home automation systems?
I use Homeseer, which is a very popular and powerful HA program. I had a hard wired DSC system which I had a plugin for that I could utilize my sensors to control events, and could use events to control the alarm system. When I decided to move to Simplisafe I saw that a developer had a plugin for Simplisafe so I bought the system and the plugin worked great. Then it didn't. Simplisafe changed something in the logon protocol and Homeseer could no longer log onto Simplisafe. Then the developer gave up on the plugin so now all of use Simplisafe users with Homeseer have no option and one of the head developers at Homeseer said the issue is with Simplisafe because they don't have a public API that the plugin can be written from. Sure would be nice if they have one. From what I'm told most other alarm manufacturers do so their products can be integrated into HA systems.

@jonjon.winn based on past history of 8 years I would say the answer is a very sure "no".  SS does has not ever released anything like you described in your post above.

Seriously doubt they would.

Well actually someone there emailed me and thought it was a great idea and sent the suggestion to Engineering. It's in their best interest, as people start moving toward automated homes, they will be looking for systems that can be integrated which is what I did with this one. When I bought this, there was a plugin for Homeseer but the developer stopped supporting it. Because they didn't have an api it was difficult for him to keep up with changes that would break the plugin. With so many other companies out there doing it, they would only be leaving themselves behind if they don't. And yeah, "based on the past history of eight years" well HA wasn't as popular then would be my guess. Times change, gotta keep up with it..

@jonjon.winn I feel honored you quoted me, but still think you are going to be disappointed, and have a proposal for you: how about a friendly bet?  Some of us in the forums have done this before, all in the name of charity. Here goes:

$25 donation to the charity of choice of the winner, by the loser.  (I should note that even when I won I still made a donation to my charity so it is, in fact, pretty friendly. The format:

Simplisafe actually makes a public API available by xxxx date.  I say no way, and if they do, I will make the donation to your posted charity. If they don't,  I win, and you donate to Alzheimer's' Society.  You can pick the date. Let me know!
