Remote FOB battery replacement- How to?

There are no directions how to replace the CR1632 battery in the black remote FOB. No battery door either. Tried to pry it open and set off the panic alarm (red end piece). Didn't know that was there either. Can someone post a YouTube video?

Hi @gofission,

The Black Keyfob for the All-New SimpliSafe does not have a replaceable battery. At this time, if the Keyfob stops working for any reason, it can be replaced under its three-year warranty. Please contact our Support Team to see about getting the Keyfob replaced.

So you find out the battery is dead when it fails to shut off the alarm? Outside of 3 years , you have to buy a new one? And this is the "new" model. Seriously bad design!
Here is a suggestion for the next generation. A tiny red LED that blinks feedback to show you pushed the button and an access door to replace the coin battery before it's dead.

Hey Team S,

A ton of us bought SS3 in the beginning of 2018, and we all asked you how you were going to address the non-battery thing.  All we got were crickets.

So now, we get to pay extra again, at 24.99 apiece?  Hope SS is better than that, as that's a pretty shady tactic, since you sort of overlooked the battery compartment thing.

I suspect "all" the fobs will "fail" shortly before the expiration of the 3 year warrantee...

Seven, it wouldn't surprise me.

Hey Team S - the crickets are getting quieter.  Is SS going to do the right thing or not?

i just contacted Simplisafe Customer Service,  they were very nice and said they would send me out a new one with a shipping label to return the old one.... Exceptional Service.

I changed the battery in my fob with some trial and error. There are snap fits near the fabric loop end  I used a flat blade precision screwdriver to pry cover sections apart.

@dave_b glad to hear that you found a way. Keep in mind though that for as long as your system is under warranty, we're able to replace your Keyfob at no additional charge. So those who aren't comfortable with prying the device open can just get a replacement sent instead.
