Vinyl Window Issue

Most of my windows are high end, vinyl replacement windows. The face of the upper sash sits almost flush against the lower sash where they meet. There is no horizontal, flat surface on the upper sash where it meets the lower sash.

This prevents me from installing the magnet on one sash and the sensor on the other. In order to cover these windows, I have to use two sensor sets. I mount one set at the bottom and one set at the top. The magnet is attached to the sash and the sensor is installed on the window frame. I'm considering upgrading to SSIII, but I prefer not to have to double up the sensors on each window. Has anyone else encountered this and if so, were you able to come up with a way to avoid using two sensors per window?

How about a thin magnet mounted on the glass so the other sash can slip by it if either sash moves?

Or if the sash is hollow, inside the sash?

The thin magnet occurred to me as well, but Simplisafe doesn't offer one. The last time I spoke with a tech person, I was told they use a very strong, rare earth magnet. I may need to do some research, as this is probably the best solution. I can't cut into the sashes without voiding the lifetime warranty on the windows.

SS does have the thin magnets, they work with both SS2 and SS3, you have to get the right person on the phone and request them.

Jff54, all of my lower level windows are configured as yours. As 7 suggested, I use a SS-provided thin magnet on the glass, and a sensor on the other window's frame. Not that it should matter for the magnet, but I have a SS2 system.

Thanks folks... I'll give them a call. I called them when I installed the original system a few years back. Maybe they didn't offer the thinner magnet back then. I appreciate the feedback.
