Water sensor

Can you set up the water sensor to send an alert to you via text or email only?  Mine set off the alarm and Simplisafe called.

Nope.  Alarm only.  There is no "secret alert" option for water sensors.

Well, you should give the user an option to turn it off themselves.

Um, a water leak is a major source of damage.  Why would you NOT want immediate and reliable notification of the leak?

@sevensiamesecats great question, and especially a good one when there is so much more customers do want Simplisafe to work on !

Hi all,

While the Water Sensors are "always-on", it's important to know that even though our monitoring center will call in the event that we receive an alarm from a Water Sensor, we do not require confirmation of your safeword for environmental alarms. In addition to that, emergency responders will never be dispatched for environmental alarms so there's no risk of receiving a false alarm fine from your local municipality.

We really need an option for just a text notification rather then an alarm. If I'm not home what good does a blasting siren do? I use this is see if my basement is leaking a small amount of water not for pipe breaks. No need for a siren to wake me up to do that

I would suspect that if dispatch was done for a water leak, it would be to a plumber  :-)

If you are not home and you have a serious leak, you can head home or have someone go there for you, to, you know, avoid more serious damage.  I've had the bottom of my water heater fall out and the hose to my dishwasher pop off, both during the night, and let me tell you, I'm totally thankful for that siren.  Which is different from and distinctive from the alarm siren, by the way.

What happens when I am home and don’t have the alarm on?  I don’t get any notification that my basement is flooding while I’m watch tv on my main level. This is a HUGE and obnoxious oversight.  Please fix!!

@CWhit the armed state of the system (i.e. setting it to Home, Away, and Off) only affects the intruder sensors - Entry, Motion, and Glassbreak. That means the other components, including the Water Sensor, are active at all times. So assuming that your Water Sensor is set up and working correctly, you would absolutely get the notification!

I have a water sensor at my water heater. The plumber is replacing my water heater and triggered the alarm, scaring the daylights out of me. Like for my doorbell camera when the yard guy passes back and forth in front of the camera, it would be nice if we could temporarily switch off various sensors for a user-defined amount of time but have the sensor automatically switch back on (perhaps with a Yes, No, or Remain off for 15 more minutes option). The water sensor warning just went off again while I'm typing. Plumbers are still working.

@CSB_SimplisafeUser at that point, the simpler solution would be to just pick up the sensor and place it somewhere else temporarily.

But a snooze timer is a great idea!
