What would I be missing without plan?

Hello.  I have a basic system consisting of a handful of entry, two motion, and one glass break sensor(s).  I have no cameras and no plans to add any.  Right now I am paying for monitoring plan but am considering canceling it as I'm not sure it's worth it for me.

I live in a low-population rural area with a small police force who I'm not sure is very responsive as I had one (false) alarm and nobody reacted, the police or SS.  That's kinda ok with me, the #1 thing I want my security system to do is wake/alert me if someone tries to get into my house at night while my family is asleep.  Warn me so I can act, warn the intruders I know they are there.  Not as concerned about someone breaking in while we're away from home.

So I don't need camera storage and professional "monitoring" is certainly not a need for me.  However, there are surely some features, nuances, tweaks, etc built into the system/app to make it painful to go without the paid plan?  What would I lose?  What am I missing?  Thank you.

@ckone0814 Actually, if you want to go alone without a plan, SS just enhanced its offerings for no plan and other types of plans to make it easier for what you want to do. The biggest change was allowing access to the mobile app with no plan so now you can arm/disarm it remotely.  As far as the other details, see the link below so  you can have the information all in one place. Let me end that the Total Command Interactive plan at $27 is still the best overall value in the industry, in my opinion. Good luck with your decision.

This link is from the new Help Center. It is pretty comprehensive and is getting better each week.

I bought the system in the UK and not being able to use the app while not on a plan was a complete let down. All the Simplisafe guidance is US-focused and implies you can use the app no problem. NOPE! Very annoyed that this is how it works. Why would UK get a worse solution for absolutely no reason? No good!

@askanison4 Interesting question.  Should be more interesting to see Simplisafe's response. What say thee, Davey?

I was just about to hit the "buy now" button when I found out that in the UK I cannot get alarm notifications or remote arming without paying for a monitoring package, so I now will be looking elsewhere. Personally I don't feel the need for monitoring and, whilst I understand the reason why, I find the mandatory camera requirement for monitoring to be intrusive. As the US seem to have full app control with no subscription costs it makes me feel like UK Simplisafe owners are being taken for suckers.
