Why does the Base Station Beep?

Our base station beeps several times when arming or disarming the system. This just started happening within the last 3 or 4 days. Why does it beep and how do we stop it?

More than likely it is the external siren letting you know it's batteries are getting low.

As stated above, the SimpliSafe Original Extra Siren will let you know if the batteries are low by beeping about 10 times when you arm or disarm your system.

To replace the batteries, just remove the back with a screwdriver and replace the batteries (four AA Alkaline 1.5V). Once you have replaced the batteries, you will need to resync it to your system.

Synchronizing the Auxiliary Siren Using a Keypad

  1.
  2. While standing near the Base Station, hold down the black "Programming Button,' located beneath the siren's back plate.

  3.
  4. While holding down the Programming Button, enter your Master PIN repeatedly on the Keypad.

  5.
  6. After you've entered the Master PIN 4-5 times, the siren should produce a "beep,' notifying you that it has been synchronized with the system.

Synchronizing the Auxiliary Siren Using a Keychain Remote

  1.
  2. While standing near the Base Station, hold down the black "Programming Button,' located beneath the siren's back plate.

  3.
  4. While holding down the Programming Button, press "Off' repeatedly on your Keychain Remote.

  5.
  6. After pressing the "Off' button 3-5 times, the siren should produce a "beep,' notifying you that it has been synchronized with the system.

This is and old post but I just recovered from "Beeping Base Station Syndrome" and want to share my experience:

I installed (added) two smoke detectors and two CO detectors. After this I set the keypad to OFF and my base station started to beep. 4 short beeps every 5-6 seconds and this did not stop until I went into one of the "Monitor" mode functions. Switching back to OFF or HOME started the endless base station beeping. This beeping was most definitely from the base station speaker and NOT from the CO or Smoke detectors and I don't have an extra siren.

I called SS and the tech guided me through several potential fixes (base reset, new base station batteries, etc). He also had me remove and add the last CO detector that I installed to no avail. I don't know why we didn't think to remove and add BOTH CO detectors but I tried this afterwards and it worked! No more beeping and my system behaves normally.

@BillB the original poster most likely had a SimpliSafe Original, which did have that behavior - the Auxiliary Siren's way of indicating a low battery was that beeping, which happened when the system was armed or disarmed. It was common back in the day for users to confuse the sound as coming from the Base Station.

But you might have a current Gen 3 system, so what you experienced might be different. But even then... the Base Station includes the Door Chime, and the countdown chirps, as part of the set of sounds it is capable of. But nothing like the 'beeps' that you're describing.

Hopefully whatever you did, that did the trick! But if you hear it happening again, please do let us know and I can ask a senior agent to reach out to investigate.
