Multiple Users

Is there any way to have multiple log-ins to the same account? If not, is there a way to send suggestions to SimpliSafe engineers?

We really need to be able to have unique username password fir multiple people on 1 account without giving everyone access to payment information. How much longer do we have to wait for this feature to be added. It seems like customers have been requesting it for years!

I have the same issue. We are setting up a system for my parents, one is good with apps and the other will need the laptop to view the cameras. We were going to set it up like we have ADT where they can login and check things on their own. Looking it over it seems like the only login we are allowed is what would be the main account, even with two locations.  We just need to allow app and website access without giving without mixing the two locations. Is this possible?

Agreed, most other systems allow you to add additional independent users to a "home" or other entity. This would be ideal for teenagers (or anyone else) that you want to be able to arm/disarm from their phones, but with no ability to reconfigure the actual system. It's also just silly from a security standpoint to have to enter your own password (with MFA) on your spouse's phone...

@AutomateAndThrive I agree, but as stated in various other threads here, the MFA portion can be done by the device and user that is entering the information (as long as they know the password), since you can setup various phones and devices for MFA and just pick the person/device/phone number of the person entering the login information for the app. I know it's not ideal and a little outdated/strange though.

Is is possible to have a secondary account setup under the primary account?  In my situation I would like to turn on MFA, however my wife uses the app as well with my email address, if I turn on MFA then she'll have to reach out to me each time for the token/passphrase to us the app.

I found a suggestion on this from 4 years ago...anyone know if SS has added this or planning to?

@macsolo1 hi!

Right now no, there's not yet a way to set up a second account for the same system.

So if you want to have access on multiple devices, the only way right now is to log in under the same username and password - which sounds like you're already doing.

The last piece is that you can set up multiple contacts to receive the multi-factor authentication code. On a device that's already logged in, just navigate to Menu > Manage Account > Multi-Factor Authentication.

After that, the next time you have to log in, you can select your phone number in the menu.

Thanks @davey_d!  That will work!  Thanks for the quick response!

As a new member to SimpliSafe, I would also like to keep this thread going and suggest the ability to add multiple users to the same account and grant separate levels of access to each account.

I would love to have my login to manage and adjust the security system, but my partner would like to just login to the app to disarm/arm the system and view cameras if necessary.

As a new member to SimpliSafe,

As a subscriber for several years, this has been asked for since before I became a customer. Per SimpliSafe, they're unable (read: unwilling) to comment on whether this is on anyone's list, if it might be a thing at some point or if they just have no plans to ever implement it but just refuse to tell us that.

Adjust your expectations. Change happens very very slowly with SimpliSafe even for literally the most asked for feature by a mile.

Doesn't look like this will be addressed anytime soon, which is a shame.  I imagine there were some myopic choices made early on in the data model development that have made this a lot of hassle to implement, otherwise why wouldn't you just sort it?

Would love to know what features are actually being actively developed.

It feels like it defeats the purpose of a security system if I have to share my password and then turn off 2FA. Right now I shared my password with ~5 people (my wife, mother-in-law and father-in-law and my brother-in-law and sister-in-law all share a house) but it makes them re-login once a month and I have to text them the 2FA code. If I'm not available they can't login, which locks them out of the house.

It looks like there are posts like this for the past 3 years, but I don't understand how this could still be in the "feature request" category since it is such a basic and necessary feature. Every other security system has the idea of "guests" and sharing time-limited codes, etc. How is simplisafe so far behind???

@garretts ,

Yes, right now we only have single-user accounts. However, as you can see from this thread, it's a very popular request. And our engineering team has taken notice. Multi-user accounts as a feature is in development. I'll keep you all updated when there's more news.

So disappointed to find yet another very basic thing missing and with the same trend as other missing features - 3 years old request but empty promises that “engineering are looking at it”

A security company advocating sharing passwords. Wow. Aside from that obvious bad practice, it also means it’s impossible to know who did what.

I also did not receive an email or notification to tell me a new device had logged in 🤦‍♂️

@guiip35 yeah it seems pretty much a dead platform development wise.

I'll add my request--would like to allow my kids and ex to be able to arm/disarm from their phones without the ability to change account settings or add/remove devices!

Agreed--need the app to enable multiple users on the same account, allowing varying permissions set for each.

This needs to have been implemented yesterday. The fact that this has been talked about for 3 years with no actions taken is staggering. Security company that thinks sharing your account password with others is quite shocking to say the least.

I live with other people who are not relatives, but it would make sense for them to use the system as well and get notifications since they are living here and the system is for their safety as well. But the only option I have is to login to their device with my username and password and then once a month I have to login again? This model makes no sense and needs to be addressed ASAP.

Do people at SimpliSafe think all their customers live alone?

I would like to suggest that Simplisafe allow for us to create sub-account logins.  We have all of our family members use the mobile app to disarm the system when they return at night so that when they open the door it does not wake everyone up with the pending alarm noise.  The issue is that everyone has to use the SAME login info and the SAME password to do this.  We have members of our household that I don’t want to have the master password to the system.  For example, we have had foster kids and  au-pair/nanny’s live with us and I really don’t want to have them using my login info and want them to have their own that I can invite them with their email address to have access to arm and disarm only.

If you make it work like the Chamberlain garage door MyQ system, this is what I would like to see. I can invite a user to enroll and use the app for my garage but I can also revoke it when needed and not have to change the password for the rest of the family.

Can I add another e-mail in addition to the main one, to receive alert notifications? I have an original system

Man, I wish I would of known this before ordering 2 systems, I would of purchased a system capable of multiple users. Total disappointment…. My $45 Zomodo cameras had multiple user option.

Man, I wish I knew about this before purchasing 2 systems. What a disappointment….. My $45 Zomodo cameras had multiple user capabilities that worked great. This deems it pretty useless for my other half I guess, I doubt she wants to receive alerts all day when customers enter and exit my business. She only wants to monitor the house.

Totally agree. The fact that they haven't come up with some sort of a solution for this is kinda insane. All anyone wants is seperate logins to get simple status info like armed/disarmed and sensor status like door not closed , access to cameras, and be able to arm/disarm. We aren't talking about making their whole web and smartphone apps multi user with permitions at the user level and field level access control. This shouldn't be hard. The hardware door pads already support multiple access codes.

SIMPLISAFE, PLEASE DO THIS. YOU ARE NOT LOOKING GOOD MAKING EVERYONE WAIT YEARS FOR AN OBVIOUSLY NEEDED FEATURE.

Think it's safe to say this thread and product is going nowhere.
