Multiple Users

Is there any way to have multiple log-ins to the same account? If not, is there a way to send suggestions to SimpliSafe engineers?

Adding my voice to the chorus!!!

I switched to SimpliSafe for my home after being absolutely fleeced on incremental adder fees from the competition.

But this critical oversight (now many years unresolved) will continue to stop me cold from deploying SimpliSafe at my business locations. For now, my spouse and I can share...but it is devastatingly poor practice in any security and tech industry to "multi-user-on-one-account" any critical system.

If you really wanted to get the engineers on board with a solution to this issue...just suggest that all code commits from now on will be under a single user. And ALL contributors will have global permissions, being under one user. I have no doubt, they would resolve this issue in mere days. ;-)

I'll add another +1 to multi user support ASAP. It is wild to me that a security company would advocate, for multiple years, that you should add several phone numbers to MFA for a single account. That's setting aside the debate about SMS based MFA being not so secure. Given that in 2022, the year in which this comment is written, most password managers allow for MFA via app based mechanisms it seems like such a low bar to just add app authentication as an option for MFA. In this regard we'd at least have a more secure way to handle the many user single account scenario. That said, I also would have passed on SimpliSafe if I had known I couldn't delegate access to multiple users. It's a feature my sister had in her Ring system five years ago which was available out of the box. For transparency sake I'd love to see a feature roadmap of when this will be added.

Just found out you can have multiple users, (They download the SimpliSafe App), and they have to use the same admin login and password linked to account.

@rgl55mail The issue is NOT to have to share credentials which is bad security practice. ADT allows each user of a system to have their own credentials. 3 family members? 3 logins to the same system.

EXACTLY! If you want to give access to a service person or whoever, you don’t want to give them the main admin login.  A wi-fi Schlage door lock allows for 50 unique users with different access levels and can each user can be restricted to certain days and/or times.  You can then get notification of who is going in and when. They utilize the Key app to accomplish this.

Story:

I am a SimpliSafe owner who is privacy-minded with two kids and occasional family visitors. I want other trusted people to have access to arm/disarm my SimpliSafe system, but I do not feel comfortable with sharing my personal SimpliSafe credentials. I also do not want other people changing my SimpliSafe settings, especially my curious children, so I want to restrict their access. For these reasons, I want the ability to create guest users.

Guest user:

  • Created by owner via email invitation
  • Owner can control guest’s access two ways: date range of allowed access with end date optional, and kill switch for immediate shutoff
  • Guest can access the arm/disarm page
  • Cannot access any other page

I want to be able to login and add additional users' email addresses who can manage our system via the app. I'd like to have different levels of functionality - admin can do all functions, member can operate the system, limited duration member can operate the system only on authorized days (e.g., weekly house cleaner can operate on Tuesdays or house sitter can operate for ten days, or dog walker can operate between 8am and noon).

Note: This comment was created from a merged conversation originally titled Add true multi-user functionality to the app

I'd like my teens to be able to disarm the system via phone when the get home, but I don't want them to have the main account password. They should have their own logins

I really do not understand why there is not an official response and eta on this feature.

@bbristowbham - You and many other folks that have been asking for this for how long ?!?!? Oh yeah since March of 2019 it looks like.  Correct me if I'm wrong Davey.

Cheers

@bbristowbham we do not typically announce ETAs on upcoming features. But I have a pinned response on the first page that I keep updated with the latest info. Currently, this feature is in development.

Davey, can we get a link to this pinned post of which you speak? I can't seem to find it.

Months have gone by and no updates?  Please add this feature.  Your customers are talking!  No Design Thinking needed here.

@WAK my pinned post is currently still the most accurate update. The feature is indeed in development, but it will take some time before it's implemented.
