Getting wary of adding to my system

I'm starting to feel roped into the Simplisafe system. The components are certainly not cheap, and then when you need one, they don't offer free or low-cost shipping. If they allowed third-party devices, it would be one thing, but their integrations are limited to their own products.

I'm guessing this won't be the place to get advice on transitioning away from Simplisafe but if anyone has a direction, let me know. I'll be willing to let my system slowly expire before adding more components and interconnections so that I can take advantage of more competitive pricing and innovation

@twm22columbia  SS just recently had a sale on sensors. I forget the % (15 off?) but they had it. Possibly they will repeat it. I would try calling and see if they will do it for you.  As far as the normal pricing, I think they are a bargain compared to what ADT charges (or at least what they did when I was a customer over 8 years ago.)

There are a lot of sensors available at Best Buy, and they offer free shipping.  I just got a couple of entry sensors and a siren from them.

If you do order from SS with a promo, make sure that they actually apply it.  They've never correctly applied a promo the entire time I've been doing this.  I have always had to call and complain.  They make good on it, but it's sort of annoying.
