Simplisafe compatibility with Wi-fi routers

Has anyone seen compatibility issues with Simplisafe and the Amazon eero Pro 6 tri-band mesh Wi-Fi 6 router system or other home wi-fi routers?

Mesh routers in general can be tricky because they frequently broadcast one SSID for the 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz bands. The router itself then figures determines which network your device joins using something called band steering which tends to push devices to use 5Ghz if at all possible. This creates a problem for devices that use the 2.4GHz band as the router may try to put them on a band they can't use.

There are a few ways around this, almost none of which are fool proof, but the one I tend to recommend is enabling your guest network on your mesh router and try to join the SimpliSafe devices there. Many guest networks prioritize the 2.4Ghz band for maximum compatibility with whatever is joining it. This definitely works on Google Fi in my experience and may work on other routers.

Alternately, you can see if you can disable "band steering" on your router, get your devices set up, then re-enable "band steering". Generally speaking a device will prefer a network it has joined before over one it hasn't so this may 'trick' your device into sticking with the 2.4 Ghz network enabled even with band steering enabled.

Good luck!
