Simplisafe - without monitoring

Hi everybody! Im looking to buy a simplisafe security system. But i live in Argentina, so, the professional monitoring doesnt work in my country.
If i buy the system, and not pay for monitoring, can i receive alerts on my cellphone and check the status of the system away from home?

I need a system without any monthly fee, the simplisafe works?
